The Toyota C-HR had a short initial run in the U.S. market before being shelved following the 2022 model year. Now, Toyota has announced plans to resurrect the subcompact crossover nameplate with significant improvements, not the least of which is a fully electric powertrain and standard all-wheel drive.

2026-Toyota-CHR-XSE-SUV-L02.jpgBuilt on the e-TNGA platform shared with the automaker's bZ roster, the all-new C-HR will be powered by a 74.7-kWh battery, enabling a manufacturer-estimated 290 miles of range. It will also come factory-equipped with the North American Charging System (NACS) port, making it compatible with the Tesla Supercharger network and enabling a 10-80% charge in ~30 minutes.

The 2026 C-HR is designed to turn heads with a bold front fascia, dynamic body sculpting, and a sleek, coupe-like silhouette. The dual-motor powertrain generates a stout 338 horsepower. It's a major upgrade compared to the gas-powered predecessor and will give the C-HR proper "oomph" to match its aggressive styling.

The 2026 C-HR is also nicely equipped with standard features like a power liftgate, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power driver seat. All models will also receive tech features like a 14-inch touchscreen, two wireless charging pads, and the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite of advanced driver aids.
