Toyota Highlander's Standout Features

12.3-inch Touchscreen

This screen is the biggest in the segment. It is also bright and crisp, displaying information such as navigation and climate. The screen comes as an option in the Limited model. The Platinum has the same screen as standard equipment.

Exterior and Interior Design

The new Toyota Highlander has a larger wheelbase than its predecessor. The SUV offers more cabin area, contributing to its smooth ride and handling.

Its well-placed LED headlights add up to its attractive exterior appearance. The lower trim models roll on alloy wheels of 18-inches. The upper trims (XSE, Limited, & Platinum) use 20-inch wheels.

You will also find user-friendly infotainment features in the Highlander SUV. These amenities include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, both audio and climate controls, and other functions.

The new Highlander's cloth-covered seats are comfortable and supportive. Hence, you will not have any complaints from taller passengers on long journeys.

Versatility

With 2nd-row seats, the Highlander can carry up to eight people, as mentioned earlier. The L & LE versions are solely eight-seaters. The Limited and the XLE models feature a pair of captain's chairs in the 2nd row. This scenario reduces the seating capacity to seven. However, the eight-seater configuration is readily available.

Additionally, this SUV has cargo space of 16 cubic feet at the back of the rear seat. This cargo area is enough to carry several grocery bags. For more space, you can fold down the 3rd-row seats to get 48 cubic feet. Interestingly, this space expands to 84 cubes when you fold both the 2nd and 3rd rows.

Capable

The Highlander uses a 3.5L V6, generating 295 horses and a torque of 263 lb-ft. This power is enough to propel a fully loaded three-row Highlander. An 8-speed auto sends the power to the front wheels-optional AWD (all-wheel-drive). The EPA estimated the 3.5L V6 at 20/28 mpg (FWD), 20/27 miles per gallon (AWD).

Safety

Toyota Highlander safety tech and driver-Assist Features

The new Highlander includes several safety tech amenities:

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5

The feature is standard in all the New Highlander trim levels. It includes forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure (Alert/Warning), and more.

Blind-Spot Monitors and Rear-cross-Traffic Warning

This feature is standard across the new Highlander trim levels, except for the L model. It will alert you of any object or vehicle in your blind spot. It is an essential feature, and it comes in handy when reversing.

Rear and Front Parking Sensors with Automated Emergency Brakes

This system is standard on upper trim models (Platinum and Limited). It alerts you of any hidden hazards around your vehicle. If there is an imminent collision, the system can apply the brakes.
