Believe it or not, 2017 marks the twentieth year since the beloved Toyota Prius entered production. Since its inception, this popular hybrid has undergone four generational updates, with the current being the most popular yet. But this year also sees another epic milestone for our preferred automaker. It’s the year that they’ve hit 10 million hybrids sold around the world.
That’s right, friends. In the past twenty years, Toyota has managed to push no less than 10 million fuel sipping hybrid models the world over. Of those, the Prius accounts for at least 6 million of those units. But that’s not the only gasoline-electric model Toyota sells these days. All told, eight different models come in hybrid guise, among them the Highlander, RAV4, Camry, and Avalon.
