When you imagine an American-made car, you might think of one of the Detroit-based automakers... but for the second consecutive year, the number-one model on the American-Made Index is the Toyota Camry.

The be listed on the AMI requires a model to be assembled exclusively in the United States, and made out of parts manufactured in the United States (at least 75 percent). Only eight models qualified this year, and for the second time in a row, the Camry featured the highest proportion of American-manufactured parts. The Toyota Sienna minivan was also near the top of the list, at number three.

According to Cars.com's analysis, the Toyota Camry also supports more manufacturing jobs in the U.S. than any other model. It is assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc., which employs nearly 8,000 full-time workers.

Design and engineering for the Toyota Camry and Sienna is also done in the United States, at Calty Design Research, Inc. in California, and Toyota Technical Center in Michigan.

If you're looking for an American car that supports American manufacturing, then find it at Cavender Toyota in San Antonio.
