The Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) hosted the annual Texas Truck Rodeo at the historic Knibbe Ranch in Spring Branch, Texas. The event, which was held October 6 - 9, features demanding evaluations of the best trucks, SUVs, and crossovers, from across the industry.
This year, the all-new 2016 Tacoma showcased its redesigned powertrain, enhanced suspension system, and off-road technology, and its performance was good enough to earn it the title of "Mid-size Pickup Truck of Texas." Chief engineer of the Tacoma line, Mike Sweers, stated: "As America’s best-selling mid-size pickup for ten years running, the recognition as Mid-size Pickup Truck of Texas confirms our efforts to produce a great truck that will carry Tacoma’s legacy as the toughest, most durable truck in the segment."
The new Tacoma boasts an increase of 42 horsepower over its most recent predecessor, and features innovative off-road technology like the TRD Crawl Control system which automatically controls braking and acceleration, allowing the driver to focus on navigation.
